Ellen A. Roth has combined some easily recognizable elements of a fairy tale with a bit of mystery and romance to create this story. Beautifully illustrated by John Blumen, the hardcover title I received is slim and glossy, with a feel of a children’s classic title.
Ten Fingers Touching
In this battle of good versus evil, Roth has tilted the title to female readers who want their tales with a traditional feel: women in need of rescue, men forthright and heroic. Not a bad thing for a getaway read, with a guaranteed happy ending where good and evil are simply that. Not overburdened with depth of story or overly wordy, each chapter is short and the illustrations bring the events to life in a perfect collaboration.
A touch darker and racier than a children’s story, this is a book for adults that want a ‘getaway’ read, one that will allow you to escape reality for a while and lose yourself in imagery. Written in a style that is best described as fairy tale form, it does take some getting used to the writing, and the pacing is a touch uneven. Fortunately the illustrations do help to improve the overall experience, and give depth and breadth to the story.
While not perfect, this is a beautifully presented story that will harken back to early childhood reading.

Evil plots his return to power and Good fights to defeat Evil's sinister plan. Caught between them in this epic struggle are two young lovers - Martak, master of the forest, and Marianna, a beautiful maiden and governess to Rosy, the impetuous, young princess. Evil's desperate scheme to outwit Good and rule the Kingdom puts Martak, Marianna and the Princess at risk as they are drawn into the conflict.
Will the soulmates realize their "happily ever after?" Martak must first unravel the curse and destroy evil. In this land where magical forces vie for dominance, could true love be the most powerful weapon of all?
A beautifully illustrated tale for women of all ages, Ten Fingers Touching explores the complex nature of love and fate. It is an enchanting journey of romance, mystery and adventure. Ellen A. Roth's debut novella is an imaginative take on a classic genre-and a treat for the romantic soul.
