Luscious by Sabrina York
Devlin is the son of a second son of an Earl who married a commoner. This immediately put his family on the outskirts of the ton, and life was far from one of privileged ease. After finally being able to afford a commission, he went off to fight against Napoleon. Now back in England recovering after an injury, he’s on his way to London to claim the title after the demise of his Uncle and family.
Tildy is a young lady, of marriageable age, in the care of her brother. He’s arranged a marriage for her, and she is not at all interested. Naïve and innocent, Tildy is headstrong and certainly full of her own ideas about her life. Running away from her home to head to her Aunt’s home is the first of her rather half-baked plan to avoid this upcoming match.
When a rainy night and a long carriage ride into London reveal is the instant connection between these two, and Dev’s rather checkered history with Tilda’s brother. But the conversations, and Tilda’s determination to ‘ruin’ herself with a man hand chosen by her Aunt, thus to avoid marriage is a double-edged sword for Dev. He’s dismissive of most of the rules of society, but doesn’t wish to dishonor himself or disgrace Tildy, and believes he can deliver her safely to her Aunt’s home, intact, where clearer heads will prevail.
A true laugh out loud story, if only Tildy weren’t so very determined and completely convinced her own plan will work, if she could convince Dev to follow her carefully proscribed plan. They are adorable together: Dev’s sense of humor is dry and pointed, and she is drawn to both his kindness and intelligence. Although she is an innocent, she’s prone to rather outrageous statements: some for reaction, some she truly believes. With her Aunt able to talk some sense into her, and Dev’s realization that she’s be the perfect wife for him and his newly acquired title, the story moves forward quickly and keeps you interested. There is chemistry to burn here, and the inclusion of some clever moments with secondary characters provide a wonderful read.
A wonderful installment in a collection, and sure to bring interest to the rest of York’s titles.

When Deveny Hargrove rescues a waif in a rainstorm in the middle of nowhere, he has no idea that she represents his long-awaited chance at vengeance. When she offers him her virginity—in an attempt to escape an unwanted society marriage—he has to agree. To his surprise, very little of his motivation stems from punishing her brother.
The fact is, Matilda Paddington represents his chance at revenge…or redemption…but his choice could destroy them both.
