Again jumping in mid-series, this mix of mystery and romance in The Weekday Brides series from Catherine Bybee was an intriguing read. Apologies to author and publisher for the seriously delayed review of

Having no experience with this series, I was not quite sure what would happen. Matchmaker Meg is sent to explore a secluded island for her company, in the hopes it will fit a client’s specific requirements. She’s excited to explore, question and determine the suitability herself, there’s just one issue. Sex on a Stick owner Valentino is obsessed with his guest’s enjoyment and privacy, and doesn’t really believe Meg isn’t going to exploit her access to share secrets. But, he can’t help but find her intriguing, even as he’s not pursuing her as she’s there with her boss.
When the two need to team up and discover just who is leaking secrets about Meg’s boss, their attraction sparks, and there just may be a match in the works. But, she’s not entirely convinced that things are as safe as thought. When Val’s sister Gabi and her proposed fiancé become the subject of rumors, the chase is on to Italy in the small details of a winery. A few twists, plenty of turns, some danger and a seriously romantic epilogue that pulls the ends together made this an intriguing story.
The writing is wonderful, although I did find that many of the mysterious elements often seemed to crowd into the story in lieu of developing a connection with Meg and Val… in fact, she spent so much time in Michael’s company that the relationship with Val felt almost insta-love, and a touch ‘love the one you’re with’ sort of feeling. Sure to please fans of the series.

The sixth sweet, thrilling book in the New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestselling Weekday Brides series from Catherine Bybee.
Meg Rosenthal: Matchmaker by day, realist by night, Meg is not about to get swept away by a charming, darkly handsome businessman in a designer suit. She’s come to a beautiful secluded resort to evaluate the private island’s potential for her agency, not to ogle its owner. But there’s something about the magnetic man that’s hard to resist, even for a woman who refuses to fall in love.
Valentino Masini: A successful and drop-dead sexy businessman, Valentino is used to having the finer things in life. Yet he’s never wanted someone the way he wants Meg, who’s stirring up a hurricane of trouble in his heart. But just as he decides to convince her to stay, someone else decides it might be time to get Meg off the island…permanently.
