Searching for Someday: Searching For #1 by Jennifer Probst

This is a new release – and also another in the NetGalley November Challenge….

Book Review:

The second title I have read by this author, I was curious to see how she would incorporate a more paranormal element into her story. Probst managed to create a character in Kate that I found endearing and quirky, her affection for B-movies, and her business sense and belief in happily ever afters, just not for herself.

Slade is more than a bit of an arrogant ass when we first meet him, although I think many would give him a bit of a pass on his initial response because he really is seeking to protect his sister. Yet, when his outrageous accusations about Kate’s skill are combined with his brash manner, his instantaneous connection to Kate literally throws him backwards.

For what Kate knows, but her clients don’t is that she has a gift, by a simple touch she can find a true love. Successful for all but herself, the electric shock when she and Slade touch is both revealing to her and surprising to Slade. Sure, find him a mate, he’s convinced she can’t – and she will leave his sister alone.

So we have a more than slightly hostile male, the woman who is his destined mate, some great friends, and plenty of moments where they both seek to deny the attraction. And it isn’t long before Slade manages to turn on the charm and start working to convince Kate that they are meant to be together – that she found him the perfect woman, and she is that woman.

The plotting and pace were perfectly suited, with enough development to the characters as we progress through the book that we see them grow and learn about one another as well. With some steamy moments, several situations that are laughable and plenty of moments where Kate indulges her favorite pastimes and interacts with friends this was a quick and light read, sure to leave a smile on your face.
