Ruthless: True Brothers MC #1 by Gillian Archer

Ruthless: True Brothers MC #1 by Gillian Archer

A new MC Series on the blog today from Gillian Archer with her True Brothers MC series, now available today.  A softer than the norm story – this one fits nicely with fans of contemporary romance. Please read on for my review of

Ruthless

A less dark and gritty MC romance that still holds an edge in terms of action and drama highlight Gillian Archer’s new release.  Jessica is successful, career oriented and completely unfamiliar with the darker side of life, unless bowing to her mother’s repeated ‘set ups’ count.  A bad date with an attempted parking lot mauling result in Jessica being rescued and introduced to Zag, a member of the True Brothers.  Tall, dark and handsome with a bad-boy twist, Zag is intriguing and enticing – but Jessica knows the encounter was a one off.

These two are very different: he thinks she’s too good for him, and like most of these storylines, she sees the ‘heart of gold’ under the gruff and menacing exterior.  OK – I read these, I like that beauty and the beast-like theme, but it’s getting old. Strong silent alpha biker with menacing growl is ONLY understood by the one ‘civilian’ female who is too good for him, but they are thrown together when she is threatened.  It’s almost formulaic, and the writing and the relationship, to that point, far outshone the rather overdone plotline – and I could have done without that.

Because Jessica and Zag were magnet and iron filings: they were attracted and it only increased when they were together as they worked to feel one another out.  Their interactions are priceless, and Zag is not the typical tortured man – he’s thinking their paths are different, he doesn’t see them as a plausible couple BUT he still is willing to take a chance and see where things go without making several lame, halfhearted attempts to push her away. Their dynamic made the romance so much sweeter and more believable, and for me, the other elements went to the background quickly.  If you like a darker and gritty story, this is not for you –but for readers more in tune with current contemporary romances this will fit the bill.

Every girl needs a guardian angel—even if he wears black leather. In the first novel of her scintillating True Brothers MC series, Gillian Archer introduces readers to a sexy-as-sin biker . . . and the woman wild enough to tame him.

After dinner with the most arrogant man in the world, Jessica Miller is shocked when her blind date tries to maul her in the parking lot. Enter “Zag”: the brooding, bruising alpha male who jumps off his motorcycle and teaches the jerk a lesson he won’t forget. After getting one taste of a bad boy who lives on the edge, Jessica’s hooked. Zag’s willing to give her the ride of her life. But she needs to wrap her arms around his powerful chest and hold on—tight.

Zag knows firsthand that the True Brothers MC isn’t for the faint of heart. He only intends to show beautiful, innocent Jessica a few cheap thrills to satisfy her curiosity. But the more he lets her in, the more Zag comes to depend on her gentle touch to help heal the wounds that he’s been denying for so long. Now, a rival gang has set its sights on Jessica, and Zag must step up once again. He just hopes he can go the distance to protect the woman he loves.

About Gillian Archer

Multi-published author, Gillian Archer has always loved books. And has had a serious soft spot for romances ever since the tender age of twelve when she would steal her mother's Harlequin books and read them under the covers with a flashlight. But the writing bug didn't hit until over ten years later after a dare from the husband. (It might have also involved a wall-bangingly bad book.) Now she can't imagine doing anything else.

Outside of writing, Gillian loves to spend time snuggling with her husband, playing with their dogs, and travelling to exotic places. After living abroad for four years, she is very happy to be back in the US with the wonders of Walmart.
