Today I have the 3rd book in the Inside Out Trilogy by Lisa Renee Jones: Revealing Us. Book is releasing today, and there will be several different opportunities for you to win in the celebrations of this latest release.
This is the third installment of the Inside Out Trilogy, and answers many questions that were hovering about. Just what deep and dark secret did Chris keep from Sara, and will it pull them apart? A whirlwind decision and flight to Paris start this story: Sara’s willingness to drop everything and her subtle and not so subtle pushing herself upon him and into his life in a more permanent way provides the backbone of this story.
There is a softening of the tension in this story: we are aware of the end of Rebecca’s story, and while the search for Emma is still a part of this story, it is secondary to the push-pull between Sara and Chris. In Paris, Sara must come to grips with a woman from Chris’ past, learn to speak French, and deal with a stateside murder inquiry. All while reassuring Chris that she can, will and wishes to see all of him, that he won’t push her aside or away, nor will he need the release that the pain brings.
Again, Lisa Renee Jones manages to use first person point of view to completely immerse the reader into the story, visceral and raw, the emotional impact is felt keenly, even as I was occasionally rolling my eyes when Sara made stupid and dangerous moves. Personally, I thought that there would be more to the story of Chris’ secret, but the withholding and revealing in his time only was such a specific need and fit so well with the dominant side of his personality that it did have that ‘world as he knows it will end’ feel. But the teaser for Emma – that was just mean.
This is a story that is ultimately about finding the one who turns you inside out: you want to breathe their air, and know that the world is safer for you with them in it. It’s taken us the three stories to get to that point, where both Sara and Chris have their happy ending, and the journey has not been a smooth or easy one. Incredibly sexy and steamy scenes of the two together, combined to show the power and trust required in a sexual relationship, the strength in submission and the struggle when control overrides the need to be loved and happy.
There are many who compare this story to the more famous story that is first on everyone’s mind as a story of romantic suspense with BDSM elements. That comparison does not do the books in the Inside Out Trilogy justice: the writing here is tight and skilful, first person point of view is emotionally impacting and brings the reader on a journey of discovery, with elements that are disturbing and exciting in their raw and honest portrayal. These are 3 books that you will whip through without noticing the time, and then want to re-read to be sure nothing was missed. Choose these as your introduction to the genre, and you won’t go wrong.
