Alison Bliss comes to the blog today with the second in her A Perfect Fit contemporary romance series, narration provided by Violet Strong.
On the Plus Side
Valerie has had her eyes on Logan for years, but as her older brother Brett’s best friend, they never stood a chance. Or so she thought. Logan noticed her – but he’s a strong believer in the ‘don’t mess with the little sister’ ethos that is common for boys, and now that they are men, it’s not really changed all that much for him. But Valerie isn’t about to let a little thing like her interfering brother stand in her way.
Together these two are electric and the banter is wonderful: Valerie is confident, strong and comfortable with who she is – not obsessed over her weight or her curves, instead using everything to her advantage. She is, however, more than a bit clueless about consequence when she’s focused on a goal – and that can lead to some real issues. Logan is wonderfully protective, kind and loyal, and his own need to cling to what he thinks is best, the hands off Valerie rule often leads to him being gruff and short – but she doesn’t make it easier. And then, when he’s got her ‘dirty to do’ list, and then finds that it was her actions that caused a ton of issues and could have been catastrophic, he loses it. Justifiably so, but with that touch of wanting her to be all he had thought she was. Oh that was cute – and from one minute of sweet Logan quickly becoming steamy, hot dirty-talking Logan, he’s the man to keep her on her toes. And when she finally realizes her mistakes, and then Logan apologizes TO her – rather than her being aware of her screw up and making an apology – yeah… ummm – well – they did find some interesting moments. And, with Valerie as the aggressor in the relationship, it was cute to see Logan reacting to it – and watching her brother up his pain in the ass interference along the way. But, determined should be Valerie’s middle name, and she will get what she wants.
Narration for this story is provided by Violet Strong and as in the first book, her work here was perfectly suited to the text and the characters. She’s able to add pauses that allow moments to ‘sink in’ becoming each character without hesitation or overworking the tone or delivery, and allowed each character to stand solidly in their place, moving through conversations, banter, arguments and quiet moments with ease.

The second book in a laugh-out-loud new contemporary romance series from Alison Bliss!
Big girls don't cry. They go after what they want.
Thanks to her bangin' curves, Valerie Carmichael has always turned heads-with the exception of seriously sexy Logan Mathis. Just Valerie's luck that the object of her lust-filled affection is also best friends with her overprotective brother. But Valerie's determined to get Logan's attention . . . even if it means telling a teeny little lie to get a job at his new bar.
Logan can't remember a time when Valerie didn't secretly fuel all his hottest fantasies. Now the curvaceous she-devil is working behind his bar, tempting him every damn night. It's only when he finds Valerie's naughty things-to-do list that Logan decides to break every rule in the book-by making each red-hot deed a reality.
No one warned them that they were going to fall this hard. And no one warned them that sometimes the smallest secrets can have the biggest consequences.
