Another month, another Blog All About It prompt from Anna at Herding Cats. This month’s prompt is
I’ll admit I have an obsession with pink. I’ve always loved the bright and bold pinks for clothing, the softer blush and baby pinks for lingerie and fuzzy sweaters. Being a blonde, pink is a solid color choice that takes up a good portion of my closet.
There’s also the juxtaposition of “Pink”, the singer named Pink with her poppy, fun songs that seem to highlight the ‘girl power’ lurking beneath it, Aerosmith’s ode to Pink as a color, the Pink Panther Theme from Mancini and even Springsteen’s Pink Cadillac – there are pinks and there are Pinks…. Pink Moon from Nick Drake and Pink Pussycat from Devo – even Janelle Monáe has a song – Pynk. Every genre of music seems to have a pink in the title (I couldn’t find classical title – but that’s the aberration!)
Pink it’s my new obsession
Yeah, pink it’s not even a question
Pink on the lips of your lover, cause
Pink is the love you discover
Pink as the bing on your cherry
Pink cause you are so very
Pink it’s the color of passion
Funnily enough, while I have pink Moleskines and pink pens, pink pencils and post-its, I don’t have a room painted in any shades of pink, or even any real ‘soft furnishings’ in pink…. Socks a pleny, lounge pants and hoodies, but no sheets, pillows, curtains or walls.
And pink isn’t only ‘baby’ colors – there’s plenty from soft to bold, heavier on the red tones or tilting to the oranges – it’s pink y’all
So my obsession is out – what pink do you have – or what does pink make you think of? (Oh – and while I’m at it – I do also have a fascination with Hello Kitty and her little pink self – she makes me smile – and we all could use an opportunity to smile more nowadays.
