Philippa Ashley returns us to Porthmellow Harbour for the third book in this lovely series of growth, change and a bit of escape with
A Perfect Cornish Escape
Four people are facing changes, growth, grief and new hope in the tiny coastal village of Porthmellow Harbor. For Marina, the seventh anniversary of her husband’s death is approaching, since there was no body, she’s been waiting in limbo. After clearing his debts and re-building the coastal watch station, she’s well on the way to moving forward. Tiff lost her job in journalism after a scandal, and she’s really hoping to just hide away at a favorite spot with her cousin until the scandal blows over. Dirk moved from London after the dissolution of his marriage and is the mechanic for the lifeboat station, doing his best to keep everyone at arm’s length. Lachlan has been ‘recruited’ to work for a local’s security business after leaving the military after being injured.
These four will interact, along with the welcome of the locals and the peace and danger of the sea, to find new steps and ways forward. From friendships to potential love interests, everyone has growth and change to go through, moving through grief and past issues to redefine where they are, and where they want to be.
I love this series and devour every book when I’ve got it in my hands. Philippa Ashley gives us real people, flawed and searching, in a location that combines the beauty of nature and its dangers. This title managed to highlight those who work to save lives endangered on the water, showing their courage, determination and struggles living in a coastal, former fishing, community with people that could mean the difference between a lovely seaside holiday and tragedy, all while highlighting the beauty and resilience of the human spirit and the power of love. A wonderful series, one that can be read alone or in sequence, and one that will provide a great escape, keeping you glued to the pages and leave you with a smile.
