Sarah Morgenthaler returns with another story from Moose Springs, Alaska with
Mistletoe and Mr. Right
Keeping the light flavor that disguises a surprising depth, Morgenthaler takes us deeper into the quirky, obstinate and often eccentric town of Moose Springs. We first met Lana as the wealthy sidekick to the first vacation ever Zoey, and her best friend. Now happily loved up, Lana has, against her usual patterns stuck around Moose Springs, hoping to convince the townspeople that the condos she wants to build (as part of her family’s development company) will be good for the town, not just push the townsfolk out and make it more ‘tourist’ than ever.
Because Moose Springs is a small town and people are on the ‘serve only locals or sell-out and serve the tourists’ line, she’s not making lots of friends. Being best friends with Zoey, while allowing her some leeway and getting to know Zoey’s fiance Graham and his best friend Rick also has given her some insight into the town’s dislike of tourists. But everyone is worried about the “Santa Moose” that is trashing the carefully planned Christmas decorations, and the need to ‘get the moose before someone gets hurt’.
Rick’s pool hall is struggling, and while Lana wants to help him (and all the other businesses in town) and hasn’t raised rents or chased for arrears, her own family is conspiring against her ‘pet project’ even as she’s struggling to do what she can FOR the townsfolk – all while dancing around her attraction to Rick, the fury from the town and her and Zoey’s plan to capture the “Santa Moose” the story moves from personal to laugh out loud, to struggling with insecurities and hang-ups, all in a matter of sentences. Full of laughter, hijinks, beautiful scenery and some lovely growth and revelations for both Rick and Lana, the story is lovely and clever. A quick read that dumps you into Alaska at Christmastime – minus the snow and cold.

How the moose (almost) stole Christmas.
Lana Montgomery is everything the quirky small town of Moose Springs, Alaska can't stand: a rich socialite with dreams of changing things for the better. But Lana's determined to prove that she belongs...even if it means trading her stilettos for snow boots and tracking one of the town's hairiest Christmas mysteries: the Santa Moose, an antlered Grinch hell-bent on destroying every bit of holiday cheer (and tinsel) it can sink its teeth into.
And really...how hard could it be?
The last few years have been tough on Rick Harding, and it's not getting any easier now that his dream girl's back in town. When Lana accidentally tranquilizes him instead of the Santa Moose, it's clear she needs help, fast...and this could be his chance to finally catch her eye. It's an all-out Christmas war, but if they can nab that darn moose before it destroys the town, Rick and Lana might finally find a place where they both belong...together.
