Mastering a Sinner
Alistair is working as a secretary at The Sinners Club, as the sole support of his family and responsible for keeping his brother Harry in line, his hands are full. His father’s conviction for treason has limited his options for employment, and this reputable and responsible position at the very scandalous house is his saving grace.
When the female members at the club demand a female to deal with their information, Diana interviews for the position. An orphan that was left penniless after her husband’s death, her work saves her from penury. She’s full of questions, namely the identity of her father, and Alistair is concerned about her intentions for the job. Unfortunately, no one wants to hear his concerns, and when he has to solve the next crisis from Harry, he has to let go of his worries.
These two are intriguing – Alistair is very capable, yet he’s holding on to his own desire to submit. Unfortunately this comes with his total inability to talk about limits and likes, a dangerous position. Diana is intrigued by Alistair, and her take no prisoners method of domination is wholly self-serving and seems to be unwilling or unable to consider his desires or needs. This sets up an interesting push-pull play between them, where Alistair is unable to completely submit until his needs are addressed.
Unbelievably steamy and sensual in their encounters, the setting, the action and the byplay between them is incredibly well written. When Diana realizes that she needs ‘assistance’ in fully assuming her dominance, she turns to Lord Minshom for advice and guidance. Learning well from him, Diana is able to move her relationship with Alistair forward in terms of trust in the bedroom, but it is still a struggle for her to share her suspicions about her father.
I love this story, Pearce’s world and character building is solid and engaging, giving them life and allowing readers to form a solid visual image of the character, the place and the action. Fast paced and easy to read with a touch of mystery, this is sure to please many readers.
