Hitched: Roman Holiday #2 by Ruthie Knox

Hitched: Roman Holiday #2 by Ruthie Knox

Another toward my NetGalley November challenge – this is the second installment in the serial romance Roman Holiday by Ruthie Knox.

Book Review:

In this second installment of Ruthie Knox’s Roman Holiday, Hitched follows Ashley and her self-created adventure in which Roman becomes her unwitting and mostly unwilling driver and foil for all of her frustrations.

After removing her from the tree she had chained herself too, and waiting while she regained some of her strength after her fainting, the two join the long queue of people evacuating from the Keys in front of the predicted hurricane.  Doing her best impression of a spoiled 4 year old, without the screaming, Ashley is endlessly in motion, changing the radio station incessantly, asking probing questions and doing everything but blowing raspberries and saying neener-neener or demanding they stop every five minutes.

We get some more information from Roman’s point of view, his unguarded building of a house out of jam, sugar and half-and-half packets while waiting for their meal was clever, and knowing that Ashley would destroy his careful design was also not a surprise.  While they aren’t battling overtly, there is a subtle game of supremacy being made, with either liable to come out on top.

As fun as the first, with more laughter from ridiculous situations and their increasing awareness of the attraction they share combined with the overtly childish antics that both frustrate and earn a sort of grudging respect for her strength from Roman are highlights, and the final scene is the buttoned-up developers worst nightmares come to life.  And then some.  I love this serial story, and can’t wait for the next installment.

Ruthie Knox’s eBook original serial, Roman Holiday, continues in Episode 2, as Ashley and Roman flee an oncoming hurricane by hitting the highway—only to encounter some outrageous bumps in the road.

Roman Díaz isn’t thrilled about being forced to evacuate Ashley Bowman from the Florida Keys—and that’s before he sees the decrepit Airstream trailer she wants to hook up to his shiny new Escalade. Ashley’s in way over her head, and the only way she knows to beat Roman is to get some help from a friend . . . in Georgia. She can put up with Roman’s fury at the unexpected detour, no problem. It’s the bizarre thrum of attraction between them that she could do without. And yet there’s something about being hitched to Roman that makes Ashley never want to let go.

About Ruthie Knox

USA Today bestselling author Ruthie Knox writes contemporary romance that’s sexy, witty, and angsty—sometimes all three at once. Her debut novel, Ride with Me, is probably the only existing cross-country bicycling love story. She followed it up with About Last Night, a London-set romance whose hero has the unlikely name of Neville, and then Room at the Inn, a Christmas novella—both of which were finalists for the Romance Writers of America’s RITA Award. Her four-book series about the Clark family of Camelot, Ohio, has won accolades for its fresh, funny portrayal of small-town Midwestern life.

Ruthie also writes New Adult romance as RobinYork.

She moonlights as a mother, Tweets incessantly, and bakes a mean focaccia
