Fire Me Up
I’m a fan of this series: Kimberly Kincaid brings a slice of small town life, complete with the intrigues and issues common to life where everyone knows your name.
Teagan is helping out her father on her off time, his illness and his turning to a loan shark has put the Double Shot Bar and Grill in jeopardy, and well, Teagan is competent, capable and able to handle anything.
I loved Teagan with her snarky wit, her self confidence in all things BUT kitchens and her ability to give just as good as she gets. This is no shrinking violet, and she will bite the bullet to get things done, even if she feels completely over her head.
Adrian is the town bad boy, well, as bad as anyone ever is in Pine Mountain. Big, bold brawny biker with a bit of a protective attitude, he’s been appearing in earlier stories dishing out advice and the occasional right hook. His first love is cooking, but not taking the time to rest and relax meant he dropped his motorcycle and broke his arm. And chefs most certainly need two. Six weeks healing time means Adrian is on R & R, and for a man who never seems to relax, this is torture. Not to mention that free time and loose ends for Adrian equals trouble- and trouble is the last thing he needs to find with his parole officer lying in wait.
We have good girl Teagan, EMT, family driven and completely horrified that her father turned to a loan shark now facing her worst nightmare: the kitchen. The edgy bad boy Adrian who was floundering for a while, and getting into trouble, now pouring all of that energy into his passion for cooking, and with one arm and six weeks of healing, again at loose ends. When he steps into Double Shot for a quick bite, and comes face to face with a harassed Teagan, who happened to be the redhaired EMT who treated and scolded him after his accident – the story quickly heats up.
Adrian can’t understand Teagan’s fear and dislike of the kitchen, and with one arm, he’s not quite able to step in to solve her every issue. But, he can help, and since his own boss, Carly, won’t let him back in her kitchen while he’s healing, he needs something to occupy his time. Teagan’s kitchen at the Double Shot is just perfect – now to get her to agree.
Oh the chemistry! And food chemistry! OFF the charts hot, I so want that gnocchi, but only if Adrian comes to make it, I’m adventurous in the kitchen, but not a fool! These two are snarking their way to friendship and more, Adrian is dishing out attitude and leave me alone vibe is deftly handled by Teagan, she bristles and gentles him, while revving that motor of attraction. Adrian is constantly off-balance, even as he contemplates whether or not he dares to act on the attraction. And these two fight like cats and dogs: fighting their own issues and fears more than one another. All while developing a connection that is electrified with heat, and perhaps a tiny hint of chilés.
With an ending that is just perfect, a touch of danger from the loan sharks and returning visits from characters from earlier books – this is a fun, welcome back to Pine Mountain: sure please fans of the series, and encourage others to start from the beginning.

IF YOU CAN’T STAND THE HEAT…
Teagan O’Malley can handle a crisis. She’s a paramedic, it’s her job. But she never expected to land in the kitchen of her father’s pub, with no notice, no cash, and no room for error. The kitchen is not her favorite place. Lucky for her, she just scraped a bad-boy chef off the pavement after a motorcycle accident—and something about him says he can turn up the heat in more ways than one.
Adrian Holt has had a rough few years, and he’s not eager to get tangled up in anything more complicated than a good risotto. But with a broken arm and a head full of bad memories, he needs a challenge to keep him sane. Teagan’s dare-me attitude and smoldering mess of a bar are just what the doctor ordered. And the two of them together might cook up some even better medicine…
