Annie Rains returns to the blog with another story from Sweetwater Springs with

Reunited on Dragonfly Lane

Sophie Daniels and Chase Lewis were once a couple, inseparable and interconnected. Until Sophie had a disastrous climbing accident and nearly lost her leg. She was young, confused, hurt and angry and pushed Chase away. Now, years later, Chase has returned to take over the veterinary clinic and help his sister-in-law, nephew and mother after his brother’s imprisonment. He and Sophie are “waving” acquaintances now, not quite friendly, but polite acknowledgement. Until on the way to their friends’ wedding, Chase stops to help Sophie and a young puppy that she’s hit with her car.

The wedding is where the two start to tentatively repair their relationship: both realizing that they never found that spark with anyone else.  Sophie is far more reluctant to take the next steps, she’s lived her life since the accident with caution and ignored or dismissed everything that she used to love to do. Chase still loves those adrenaline-fueled activities: climbing, running and kayaking, but he’s unsure about mentioning them to Sophie, or even bringing her to places they used to love.

Additionally there’s his sister-in-law Tess and his nephew, Petey, and the need to find a new home for the puppy (Comet) that Sophie hit with the car. While Tess works full time at the women’s shelter and cleans houses on the weekends, the onus of her ex-husband’s misdeeds have followed them both. While Tess is struggling with finances and parenthood, Petey is bullied at school and wants nothing more than to get his own dog. With Sophie being an honorary ‘aunt’ and Comet there to visit frequently gives Petey his doggie fix, and allows both Sophie and Tess some needed best friend time and support.  Oh there are issues, none of which are insurmountable with a bit of good sense, honesty and plenty of heart – something always available in a novel from Annie Rains.  Grab this story and escape to Sweetheart Springs, you’ll love the people, the atmosphere and want to find a community just like it to live, love and laugh in.

In this romantic adventure, anything is paws-ible when a single shop owner makes a connection with her new vet.

Boutique owner Sophie Daniels certainly isn't looking to adopt a dog the day veterinarian Chase Lewis convinces her to take in Comet. A rambunctious puppy with a broken leg may not be the best choice for a first-time pet owner. And house calls from the handsome doctor -- her high school sweetheart who's just moved back to Sweetwater Springs -- may not be the best choice for her heart either.

Chase has come home to help his nephew but finds that he's forgotten just how much he enjoys small-town life. However, sooner or later, he's going to have to face the past and his unresolved feelings for Sophie. Now that Comet needs both their help, Chase is going to let the four-legged matchmaker work his canine magic. Then Chase will prove to Sophie that first love is even better the second time around.

Includes the bonus novella A Wedding on Lavender Hill!
