Cape Cod Kisses
The first in a new series, Love on Rockwell Island, by Bella Andre and Melissa Foser, Cape Cod Kisses is a sweet and low-angst romance, perfect for your own summer escape from the hustle and bustle. Andre and Foster brought the best of their skills to the table in creating a lovely setting, complex characters, interesting secondary characters and a romance that feels meant to be almost from the start.
Shelley is the glue and the catalyst to move this story along: independent, strong willed and with an ability to live precisely in the moment of NOW, as she accepts herself and what comes, taking joy from the moments, she is a wonderful character that you want to know. There’s a sense of grounded solidity to Shelley, without the inflexibility: she is solidly adaptable, able to see how other’s actions work or don’t work for them and her. Such bone-deep self-confidence and comfort is rare, but Shelley doesn’t care what others believe or think: she’s on a honeymoon with herself, enjoying the vistas of the Cape.
Quinn is a Rockwell, and his family owns the small island that is Shelley’s escape. Driven, high-powered and relentless, he’s back on the island, summoned by his Grandfather. Single-minded in business, Quinn’s go at ‘em personality that puts his business life first and all else further down the list, the island resort is in crisis, and he has to either agree to take over management or lose it. His grandfather is also hoping that Quinn will learn to find a balance between business and real life, and find his own family and chance at happiness that he himself has found.
The Rockwell siblings and Grandfather are heavily featured in this story: giving Quinn fits, but showing him that taking his eye off business is possible, and success will be al the sweeter for it. Slowly as Shelley starts to poke at his veneer, and her pointed and honest evaluation of a life lived only for profit is not a life, he starts to thaw, and wonder just how much he has missed out on with his single-minded dedication to success in business.
A lovely tale of growth and self-discovery, Quinn’s connecting with his own family and the developing relationship with Shelley shows real growth and a desire to have it all, like his grandfather appeared to have. Easy friendships and love displayed between family members was a delightful addition, and as Quinn and Shelley put in the work to make the relationship work, the acceptance and affection just multiplied to include her in the mix of the very boisterous Rockwell families.
A great combination of skills and storytelling brought the characters to life with plenty of moments to smile. Completely engaging, I can’t wait for the next book.

When Quinn Rockwell left Rockwell Island a decade ago to build a shipping empire, he never thought he’d return to live on Cape Cod Bay—that is, until his grandfather summons Quinn and his four siblings to take over the prestigious Rockwell Resort. Quinn is already working fifteen-hour days, and the last thing he has time for is his grandfather’s demands. But on his first night back, when Quinn finds a gorgeous and carefree woman skinny-dipping in his favorite cove, he’s tempted to ignore his work for a while…and focus on her instead.
As a free spirit who follows her heart and her dreams, Shelley Walters is not the kind of girl to wait around for Mr. Right, so she heads to Rockwell Island for the honeymoon of her dreams—a solo honeymoon. Ready for a week of sun and fun, she never expected to meet a man like Quinn Rockwell.
Wealthy and intensely driven, Quinn is everything Shelley swore she didn’t want. Refreshingly spontaneous and a true romantic, Shelley is everything Quinn never knew he needed. Drawn together despite their differences, during a week of sizzling-hot passion and deep conversations, they fall head over heels for each other. But when their perfect week on the island is over, will their love survive in the real world?
